The medallions are usually hexagons, sometimes with steps that is a single diamond medallion in center on a detail background. These medallions are often concentric, smaller medallions within larger ones. Sanandaj rugs and carpets have Herati design pattern. Another design woven by Sanandaj weavers is an all-over boteh.
