Kashan rugs have some of the most dense patterns.

The general feel for quality: Kashan rugs and carpets have excellent quality. The older ones (before circa 1940s) are very good. It is more challending to find newer Kashans as good as older Kashans.

Shape and style: The Kashan comes in different sizes where the majority lies in the mid size (4x6 to 8x10 feet) range. You can also find large rugs up to large sizes of 10 x 18 feet or more.

Color: Ivory, light green and red are the main colors. There are other color exist in newer one such as soft green and blue.

Pile texture: The foundation (warp and weft) of the rugs is cotton, except in very fine pieces where it is pure silk. At Solomon's, you can find pure 100% silk Kashans.

Foundation: Warps are mostly silk, wefts either cotton ,wool or silk. The majorty of master workshop Isfahan rug have Silk Wraps, you can find cotton wraps in older Isfahan rugs.

Solomon's finest sources: Kashan, south of Tehran, has part of its township located in a vast plain and the other part in a mountainous area. The central heights of the country cross this township. The climate of the township, like other central parts of Iran, changes depending on topography of the region. The mountainous areas are cold and the plain areas, especially near the desert margin, are warm. Kashan is one of the oldest cities of Iran. Archeological excavations in Sialk hills (located 4 km. west to the city) and vestiges found over there indicate that this area was a home to pre-historic Man.
